Make A Ring From Wood And Copper
I took a copper pipe and wood shavings to make my own handmade ring! Check it out… Make A Ring From Wood And Copper
I took a copper pipe and clamped it on my workbench.
I used my Makita compact metal band saw to cut a section off of the pipe. You can use a hacksaw too. I just like using this band saw whenever I get the chance to in a project. It’s cordless.
Now I take a piece of sandpaper, place it on the bench.
We want to remove the rough edges of the cut copper. The burr is removed and we can move on to the next step.
I take some rolled up strip of wood I sliced off on the table saw.
I had wet the thin strip of wood and then wrapped it and used tape to hold it in place.
I’ll unroll the wood veneer now.
We will apply some ca glue to the copper. I’m using the thicker type of ca glue here.
We wrap the thin wood around the copper and clamp in with paper clips.
After the glue dries we remove the paper clips and the wood is securely fastened to the copper.
Now we’ll shape the ring on the belt sander.
I also use an orbital sander as I go up the finer grits of paper.
I use some hand sanding and after this we are ready for the next step.
I use wood stain to color the wood of the ring.
After I apply the stain I wipe off the excess stain.
It’s looking great. We just have one more step to go.
I’ll spray a clear coat to seal, protect and shine up the ring’s finish.
W’ll set it down to dry.
The ring is done and it looks great.
