how to age and distress wood – make it rustic We have two benches here that we’re building to accompany a farmhouse table. So we’re going to go ahead and distress them. Below is the list of tools I used and the video so you can get some ideas of your own.

Tools for distressing wood

1. We’ll need a hammer to dent the wood.

2. A drywall saw to scratch the surface.

3. An awl to add wormholes.

4. A chain to strike the wood and add damage
and variations of random hits and dents.

5. A steel brush to add micro scratches.

6. A grinder to shape and gouge the wood.

7. Finally a torch to burn the surface and add contrast.

8. Eye protection and hearing protection.
